If you hold a current interstate builder or trade licence, you may be eligible to apply for an equivalent NSW licence through Mutual Recognition.
We can review your existing licence and provide guidance about the New South Wales licence class that may be available to you, including any differences in scope or conditions that need to be considered.
Understanding Mutual Recognition
Mutual Recognition can provide a pathway to a NSW licence without starting the licensing process again. However, the licence you hold interstate needs to be current and recognised as equivalent to an available New South Wales licence class.
Where you hold licences across multiple states, we can also provide guidance around maintaining your existing interstate licensing arrangements.
Individual and Company Licensing
Mutual Recognition applies to individual licence holders only. It does not transfer a company or partnership licence into New South Wales.
If you operate through a company or partnership, the business may require a separate NSW Contractor Licences in addition to your individual licence.
